I never thought I’d be fat, but reaching 40 was a wake-up call! I’d been slim until I reached my 30s.
I’d always wondered how people managed to get so big – surely you’d realise you were gaining weight and do something?
Somehow, though, after the birth of my second daughter, I slipped into bad habits – I stopped going to the gym and started having more and more takeaways. I just got lazy.
Before long, I was a size-18.
Enough was enough. I was worried about my health and the example I was setting to my kids. So I went to my local Everyone Active centre and signed up for some personal training.
With a programme that felt manageable, I didn’t dread the thought of going to the gym. I started spin classes and followed a healthy, family-friendly diet.
